1st National Fencing Championship

Nepal Fencing Association held their first ever National Fencing Championship in Rangashala on the occasion of Olympic day, Kathmandu. Secretary General Lama Tendi Sherpa was the chief guest for the inauguration of the 2 day program.
Armed Police Force has secured 17 points and 19 points in women and men's categories respectively in the 1st National Fencing Championship.
APF's Jung Giri, Ram Bahadur Shahi and Sukhiram Tamang have secured the gold, silver and bronze medals in EPEE event. APF has also managed to secure all the rest of medals as well with the exception of a bronze secured by Shivapuri HSS's Omkar Singh in EPEE event.
In the women's category, Rakhi Sharma from Kaski defeated APF's Sukumaya Ghissing to win the gold. The third place was secured by APF's Januka Syantang and Tulsi Budathokin in EPEE event.
APF has also secured the gold for EPEE's Men's team events. Tribhuvan Army and Shivapuri HSS won the silver and bronze respectively. For the women's team events, APF won over Shivapuri to secure the gold while Tribhuvan Army secured the bronze. 
In the 2 day championship, Kadhaghari Fencing Club defeated Army to win the gold in Final men's individual. APF's Ganesh Thapa and Dhapasi's Amit Bhandari have secured the third position in Foil event. 
Similarly, in the women individual, Tribhuvan Army's Ramakumari Singh won the Gold and was followed by APF's Urmila Majhi in the second position. Army's Sumitra Bhandari and APF's Mandira Thapa secured the bronze for the same category.
In the Team events for Men, Army has secured the first position followed by APF and Kaski Fencing Association. Similarly, in the women's category, APF, army and shivapuri HSS secured the gold, silver and bronze respectively in foil event.
The president of the Nepal Olympic committee Jeevan Ram Shrestha who was the chief guest for the closing Ceremony, Vice President Purendra Bikram Lakhe, Member Nilendra Raj Shrestha, President of Nepal Badminton Association Ramji Bahadur Shrestha jointly distributed the prizes to all the winners of the events.
