Digital Archive Project of Nepali Sports 2020-2021
December 20, 2020
Nepal Olympic Commiittee held a press release today for the Digital Archive Project of Nepali Sports 2020-2021. Under the agreement reached between the Nepal Olympic Committee and the Nepal Olympic Museum, NOC have started the 'Digital Archive Project of Nepali Sports 2020-2021'. It is being held under the IOC Olympic Solidarity Program under the International Olympic Committee at the request of the Nepal Olympic Committee.
The Solidarity Program has provided financial grant for this. A formal agreement was reached between Nepal Olympic Committee and the Nepal Olympic Museum in March this year, and work has been under way since August. This is the first time in the history of Nepali sports that such a work is being done on such a large scale and it will be an attempt to document the history of Nepali sports and pass it on to the new generation.
In the event that no attempt has been made to cover the history of Nepali sports in a systematic manner so far, this project will try to fulfill it. The Olympic Museum has been keeping records of Nepali sports activities, participation and achievements since its inception. Attempts will now be made to preserve those records in a 'digital archive'.
Similarly, information about Nepal's players and sports associations will be collected. Efforts will also be made to collect documents related to how sports were started in Nepal, documents related to sports act, history of Nepal Olympic Committee itself, Nepal's performance so far in international competitions and photos and videos related to Nepali sports. For this, more priority will be given to sports related to the Olympics. The success of this program will give a definite shape to the history of Nepali sports and it will be available for all those who are interested in Nepali sports.
