Opening ceremony of 5 days long Olympic day 2021 program under the auspices of Nepal Olympic Committee and organized by Sports for All Commission was celebrated today. Opening of Olympic Day was celebrated by adopting full safety measures during a special program organized at the NOC Building Satdobato. On the occasion, Youth and Sports Minister Honorable Ekbal Miya hoisted Nepal's flag. Similarly, the President of the NOC Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha hoisted the flag of the International Olympic Committee.
On the same occasion, a friendly table tennis match was also held between Minister Miya and President Shrestha.
After that, the Chairman of the Sports for all Commission Mr. Bishnu Gopal Shrestha highlighted the importance of Olympic Day in the main program. On the occasion, NOC PReisdent Shrestha said that the Olympic Dey program would increase brotherhood and peace in Nepali sports and society as a whole.
Similarly, Minister Miya said that a collective effort was needed for the development of Nepali sports and he was ready to assist in every way in the development of Nepali sports. Different Nationalist songs were also performed in the program.
Former President of the NOC Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan,Vice Presidents Ms. Jyoti Rana, Mr. Ashok Ratna Bajracharya, Vice President and Executive Director Mr. Chaturanandan Rajvaidya, General Secretary of NOC Mr. Nilendra Raj Shrestha, Secretary Mr. Deepak Harsh Bajracharya, Ms. Tulsi Thapa and Mr. Ramji Bahadur Shrestha, Members Mr.Gopal Sundarlal Kakshapati, Mr. Tashi Ghale and Mr. Ram Awale were present on the occasion.
Nepal has been celebrating Olympic Day every year since 2011. This time, the committee and various organizations under it will also conduct 231 programs.
