19th national Chess championship and 4th female national chess championship had an opening in Ilam on Thursday. The chief guest of the program was the president of Nepal Olympic Committee Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha. Member of National Sports council Mr. Upendra Paudel, President of Nepal Chess Association (NCA) Eklal Shrestha, Former President of NCA Rajesh Hari Joshi were also present.
The competition is going to finish on May 24, 2016. It will follow the standard of International league (Swish League).
The top 5 players will be representing Nepal on the next chess Olympiad slated to be held on Baku, Azerbaijan.
