The Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) hosted a ceremony on Wednesday to extend a warm welcome and honor two distinguished guests: Honorable Dig Bahadur Limbu, the Youth and Sports Minister, and Honorable Sharat Singh Bhandari, the Labor Employment and Social Security Minister. The event took place at the NOC Building in Satdobato, Lalitpur, where Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, the President of the NOC, presented the certificates of appreciation to the newly appointed ministers.
During the ceremony, Minister Limbu emphasized the importance of liberating sports from political divisions to enable their progressive advancement. He also underscored the significance of sacrifice and dedication among individuals involved in sports. Minister Limbu further disclosed ongoing efforts to prepare Nepal's participation in 29 sporting disciplines for the upcoming Asian Games, set to be held in Hangzhou, China.
Minister Bhandari acknowledged the autonomous and distinct nature of the NOC. He also revealed his role as an advisor to the Olympic Committee, further highlighting the committee's independent status. NOC President Shrestha, acknowledging the challenges ahead, commented on the necessity of carrying the committee forward in accordance with the Sports Act. Notably, the former chairman and honorary President of the NOC, Mr. Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, and General Secretary Nilendra Raj Shrestha also expressed their viewpoints during the program.
