The main event of Olympic Day 2021 and agreement with Daraz Company
The main event of Olympic Day 2021 was celebrated today which was organized by Sports for All Commission in coordination with Nepal Olympic Committee on June 23, 2021 in Olympic Building Satdobato Lalitpur.
The Vice President Rt. Hon'ble Nanda Bahadur Pun was the chief guest of the program.. Speaking as the chief guest at, Vice President Pun said that the performance of Nepali athletes in the Olympics so far should be reviewed. "It's a great day for the world of sports," he told Olympic Day.
The history of the Olympics is also the height of overall human civilization. 'Vice President Pun also hoisted the Nepali flag at a special function held at the committee's headquarters in Satdobato. Similarly, the President of the Nepal Olympic Committee Jeevan Ram Shrestha also hoisted the flag of the International Olympic Committee.
A group of Olympic athletes led by Olympian Mukunda Shrestha also handed over the Olympic torch to the Vice President.
Chairman of the Sports for all Commission Bishnu Gopal Shrestha highlighted the importance of Olympic Dey on the occasion.
Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Kedar Neupane congratulated all the athletes on the occasion of Olympic Day and said that high performance is expected for the country.
Speaking on the occasion, NOC President Shrestha said that sports would have a positive impact on the society and it would help in peace, prosperity, harmony and development. He said, "In the face of the Corona pandemic, the slogan of the sport is to keep everyone safe, healthy and vigilant."
Letter of appreciations were provided to Associations who won gold in 13 games at the South Asian Games in Kathmandu. On the occasion, General Secretary of the NOC Mr. Nilendra Raj Shrestha expressed his gratitude and stressed on the need for long-term planning and investment for the development of Nepali sports. The program was conducted by Mr. Chaturanandaraj Baidya, Vice-President and Executive Director of NOC.
All the Executive Board Members including the Vice-Presidents of the NOC as well as the Presidents and members of various National Sports Associations, representatives of Olympians, Army, Police and Armed Police were also present on the occasion.
Agreement with Daraz Company
Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) on Wednesday signed an agreement with Daraz, a company under the Alibaba Group, to promote Olympic activities in Nepal during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It was signed by President of NOC Jeevan Ram Shrestha and Executive Director of Daraz Lino Ahlering on behalf of the Company.
Under that agreement, Daraz will now assist NOC with various programs for the promotion of Olympic spirit, programs and athletes.
