Bronze medalist of 12th South Asian games Devi Chaudhari (Nepal Police) for weightlifting improved her own national record for 53 Kg weight category lifting 59 kg in the 5th Grand pricks held on Monday.
Her previous record was 58kg weight held in Salimar 1st Open weightlifting Championship.
In today’s event, she secured gold medal by lifting 71kg in Jerk event and total of 130kg. Sanju Chaudhari from Banke and Rita Gurung from Nepal Army finished second and third by lifting total weight of 98kg and 90kg respectively.
In the 47kg weight category Manisha Ranabhat from Nepal Army secured gold by lifting total of 111Kg and following her lifting total of 100kg and 85kg, Sangita Rai from Nepal Police and Uma Chaudhari from Dang secured silver and bronze respectively.
In Male Junior 52kg weight category Ram Kumar Yadav from Saptari won gold lifting total weight of 135kg from different event, Ganesh Ranabhat from Lalitupur and Ramesh Pathak from Kathmandu secured silver and gold lifting total of 113kg and 109kg respectively.
In 56 Kg weight category Tularam Mahato from Nepal Army, Ashok Kumar Shaha from Bara and Birendra Gurung from lalitpur won gold, silver and bronze lifting total weight of 170kg, 113kg and 110kg each respectively.
On the occasion of Olympic day 2016, the tournament was held in International Sports Complex Satadobato where President of Nepal Olympic Committee Jeevan Ram Shrestha inaugurated the tournament.
