Nepal Olympic Committee expresses its heartfelt condolences to all the Nepalese brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the great catastrophic earthquake of 25th April 2015. Furthermore, we pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured persons.
In this hour of crisis, we pledge solidarity amongst the para-Olympians, players, coaches and journalists. In order to offer them maximum possible support, Nepal Olympic Committee will endeavor to coordinate at a national and international level. We have received letters from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), Organizing Committee of Rio Olympic 2016 and various National Olympic Committees expressing condolences to the families of the deceased and have also expressed willingness to offer their support. We have decided to take initiative to help players in returning back to their sporting lives.
At this critical juncture, Nepal Olympic Committee has decided to provide the following support to the players who have participated in the South Asian Games, Asian Games, Olympics, coaches associated with various associations and sport journalists. For this purpose, sports associations are requested to send details to our email address of their players and coaches who have suffered loss of lives or properties due to the catastrophic earthquake.
Various supports to be rendered by the Nepal Olympic Committee
Rs. 25,000/- to be provided immediately to the families of the deceased players who have participated in South Asian Games, Asian Games, Olympics as well as para-Olympians, coaches associated with various associations and sport journalists.
Adequate ration for one month to be provided immediately to the players who have participated in South Asian Games, Asian Games, Olympics as well as para-Olympians, coaches associated with various associations and sport journalists whose houses have been rendered uninhabitable due to the catastrophic earthquake.
It has been decided to initiate coordination at a national and international level for the management of rehabilitation of players in order to bring them back to their normal sporting lives.
Once the nation establishes camps for the affected people, Nepal Olympic Committee will provide sporting materials to such camps in order to bring them out of their mental trauma.
Coordinate with the National Olympic Committees of other countries in order to obtain various essential relief materials to the affected people.
