6th National Games was held from February 26 to March 4, 2012 (Falgun 14-21, 2068 B.S.) in Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar, In the event more than 4,000 athletes from Eastern Region, Central Region, Western Region, Mid-Western Region, Far-Western Region, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, PLA, and university compete for 31 different games. The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Rt. Hon'ble President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav Presence of Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, President of Constitution Assembly Hon'ble Subas Nemwang, Youth and Sports Minister Kamala Rokka, Ministers, President of Nepal Olympic Committee Mr. Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, Secretary General Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Member Secretary of National Sports Council Yubraj Lama, and leader of different Political Parties.
In the beginning of the Opening Ceremony, all the athletes and officials marched pass along with Olympic Torch, Games Mascot Antelope and Different magnificent Cultural performances of the Far-Western Region were also highlighted.
