Anish Thapa Magar emerged as the champion of the 3rd Lumbini International Peace Marathon 2025, held on Saturday. Similarly, Santoshi Shrestha secured first place in the women's half marathon. The marathon featured only male participants, with Anish completing the race in 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 19 seconds. In a highly competitive race for the top three spots, Sushil Kumar Shahi finished second, completing the marathon in 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 25 seconds. Kenyan runner Stephen Kosi secured third place with a time of 2 hours, 20 minutes, and 48 seconds.
With a total prize pool of NPR 1,527,000, Anish, as the Peace Marathon Champion, received NPR 350,000. Sushil won NPR 250,000, while Stephen claimed NPR 150,000.
In the women's half marathon, Santoshi completed the race in 1 hour, 20 minutes, and 25 seconds, securing the championship title and winning NPR 150,000. Purnalakshmi Neupane finished second in 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 37 seconds, earning NPR 100,000. Chinese runner Chen Wei took third place, completing the race in 1 hour, 24 seconds, and winning NPR 80,000.
In the men's 5KM race, Nageshwar Ahir, Ganesh Singh Rawat, and Bhupendra Sunar claimed the top three positions. Nageshwar finished in 15 minutes, 46.8 seconds, followed by Ganesh at 15 minutes, 50.4 seconds, and Bhupendra at 16 minutes, 0.1 seconds.
In the women's 5KM race, Neeramaya Chaudhary secured first place with a time of 21 minutes, 14.44 seconds, followed by two Chinese runners. Qin Wanchi finished in 33 minutes, 27.18 seconds, and Wang Yachi completed the race in 33 minutes, 40.27 seconds.
In the boys' 5KM category, Krishna Pariyar finished first in 16 minutes, 19.6 seconds. Amrit Bishwakarma secured second place with a time of 16 minutes, 28.3 seconds, and Umesh Barai finished third at 16 minutes, 56.3 seconds.
In the girls' 5KM race, Chandani Pasi, Kushum Thagunna, and Maya Barai finished in the top three. Chandani completed the race in 21 minutes, 48.3 seconds, Kushum in 22 minutes, 28.6 seconds, and Maya in 22 minutes, 36.7 seconds.
The race started and ended at Lumbini Square. Additionally, a 3KM walkathon was organized as part of the event.
The Peace Marathon was hosted by the Nepal Olympic Committee with support from the Embassy of Peoples Republic of China to Nepal. The winners were awarded prizes and certificates by Nepal Olympic Committee President Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Chinese Ambassador Chen Song, and other dignitaries.
