The 11th Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Olympic Committee concluded today. Due to the COVID 19 epidemics, the meeting was held virtually. Honorable Youth and Sports Minister Jagat Bahadur Vishwakarma was the chief guest at the General Assembly.
Honorable Minister Vishwakarma, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, all the General Assembly members of the NOC, Officials, Olympians, and journalists were present in the first session. On behalf of the Olympians, Olympian Deepak Bista, President of Nepal Sports Journalists Forum Mr. Debendra Subedi, Former Sports Minister Honorable Sharat Singh Bhandari, Advisor to the NOC, extended their best wishes.
Former Chairman and Honorary President of NOC, Mr. Rukma Shamsher Rana also gave his best wishes for the success of the program. He also wished to collect and preserve the records of Nepali sports.Honorary President Mr. Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan wished on the success of the 11th General Assembly and gave advice and suggestions on how to promote sports in this situation. In the same session, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council Mr. Ramesh Silwal wished success to the meeting and said that in the current situation, sports programs will be conducted keeping in mind the protocol of the Government of Nepal. The chief guest of the meeting Honorable Minister praised the work being done by NOC and said that the online trainings being provided to the athletes is a great initiative. He congratulated NOC on conducting the AGM despite the inconvenience of this Pandemic. At the end of the first session, Honorable Jeevan Ram Shrestha, President of the Nepal Olympic Committee thanked all the participants and informed them that due to this pandemic the Olympic 2020 has been postponed for one year from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
In the second session of the meeting, Secretary General of NOC Mr. Nilendra Raj Shrestha presented a report on the activities of the Nepal Olympic Committee for the year 2019-2020. The financial regulations and staff regulation presented by President of NOC Honorable Shrestha was passed unanimously. Also NOC Financial Report of the Fiscal Year 2076/77 the estimated budget for 2021 presented by NOC head of finance Mr. Rajan Shrestha was passed unanimously. Finally it was decided that the next Annual General Assembly of the NOC to be held on November 5 and 6, 2021.
