106th International Women's day Program

Tuesday 8 March,
On the occasion of 106th International Women's day celebration Nepal Olympic Committee’s women and sports commission felicitated former women's Table Tennis champion Mrs. Kamal Rana and National Sports council's member Mrs. Shanti Singh. NOC's President Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha handed Mrs. Rana and Mrs. Singh with Rs.25000 cash amount each. However, Mrs. Kamal Rana returned the money to use the amount for the development of women sports. She was Nepal champion in Table tennis for 3 times in conjunctive years and was also the first woman to represent Nepal internationally in Table Tennis world championship. She expressed her gratitude and also encouraged younger women to lead a career in the sports. Former Kabaddi coach and present board member of National Sports Council, Mrs. Shanti also added that programs like these will inspire the younger generation.
President Shrestha praised the women athlete and pointed out how this year women brought in more medals that men in South Asian games. Chairperson of women and sports commision Mrs. Jyoti Rana also added to this and specified that out of 3 gold medals, 23 silver medals and 34 bronze medals won by Nepal women brought in 2 gold medals,15 silver medals and 20 bronze medals. In the program General Secretary Mr. Lama Tendi Shrepa, Deputy Secretary Mr. Rajiv Shrestha, including board members were also present.
